Description: This session will provide an overview of the legal and ethical considerations behavioral health providers must consider when using telehealth. Participants will gain knowledge on state and federal policies impacting the use of telehealth and recommendations to ensure compliance and provide services in an ethical manner. This session will cover state rules governing the use of telehealth for behavioral health providers; federal telehealth requirements, including current waivers and expected changes when the federal public health emergency ends; and best practices for compliant service delivery through telehealth modalities.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will understand ethical and legal considerations when using telehealth.
  2. Participants will understand state & federal rules and requirements to use telehealth for behavioral health services.
  3. Participants will understand current waivers and potential changes to telehealth related to the federal public health emergency.
