Ohio Council Committees Alcohol & Drug Addiction Services Policy CommitteeChair Ohio Council Staff This Committee focuses its efforts primarily on issues that affect alcohol and drug treatment and prevention service providers. The Committee monitors state and federal legislation; recommends to the Board bills for support or opposition and suggests appropriate amendments; analyzes areas in need of legislative reform; reviews state and federal policies and recommends policy positions and provides a forum for exchange of ideas and concerns of members. This Committee meets every other month. Employment Services Policy CommitteeChair Ohio Council Staff This committee focuses on employment services and vocation rehabilitation policy and program issues that support work as an essential element in recovery and family stability. This Committee monitors federal and state legislation; analyzes legislation to suggest appropriate amendments and/or area in need of legislative review; recommends to the Board bills for support or opposition; reviews state and federal policies and recommends policy positions; and provides a forum for exchange of ideas and concerns of members. This committee meets three times per year. Housing Policy Committee - Currently InactiveOhio Council Staff The Housing Policy Committee focuses on policies and resources related to the affordable and supportive housing needs of individuals and families in Ohio with an emphasis on distinct housing considerations for people living with or in recovery from addiction and/or mental illness. This committee monitors federal and state legislation; analyzes legislation to suggest appropriate amendments and/or area in need of legislative review; recommends to the Board bills for support or opposition; reviews state and federal policies and recommends policy positions; and provides a forum for exchange of ideas and concerns of members. Human Resources and Membership ServicesChair Ohio Council Staff This Committee focuses its efforts on identifying and addressing human resource-related issues and discusses potential needs of Ohio Council members. These efforts have resulted in more focused products and services, and training opportunities specific to human resource staff in the behavioral health field. This committee is also the entry point for new products and services offered to members of the Ohio Council. The committee searches for and evaluates new member benefits in addition to monitoring existing ones. Ohio Council benefits developed as a result of this committee and its predecessor include: workers’ compensation group rating program, organizational insurance program, legal consultation services program, unemployment trust program, on-line learning solution, biennial salary survey, and a fleet management discount program. This Committee meets quarterly. Mental Health Policy CommitteeChair Ohio Council Staff This committee focuses its efforts primarily on issues that affect mental health service providers with attention to those issues that would also affect providers of addiction treatment services and family services. The Committee shall: monitor state and federal legislation; recommend to the Board bills for support or opposition and suggest appropriate amendments; analyze areas in need of legislative reform; review state and federal policies and recommend policy positions; provide a forum for exchange of ideas and concerns of members; and such other duties as assigned by the Board. Committee membership is open to all Ohio Council members. It invites statewide organizations, state agencies and policy makers, as appropriate, to discuss legislation and policies related to services, finances, standards, rules and other relevant issues. This committee typically meets every other month. Nominating CommitteeChair Ohio Council Staff This Committee is responsible for developing a slate of candidates each year for The Ohio Council’s Board of Trustees. The Nominating Committee typically meets via conference call one time, usually during June or July. Youth & Family Services Policy CommitteeChair Ohio Council Staff This Committee focuses its efforts primarily on issues that affect mental health services to families and children. The Committee monitors state and federal legislation; recommends to the Board bills for support or opposition and suggests appropriate amendments; analyzes areas in need of legislative reform; reviews state and federal policies and recommends policy positions; provides a forum for exchange of ideas and concerns of members; and such other duties as assigned by the Board. Committee membership is open to all Ohio Council members. It invites statewide organizations, state agencies and policy makers, as appropriate, to discuss legislation and policies related to services, finances, standards, rules and other relevant issues.
