$750 Stipend Available for “Communities Talk” Substance Use Prevention Events
The 2024 Cycle for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency’s (SAMHSA) Communities Talk to Prevent Alcohol and Other Drug Misuse campaign is now open. Community-based organizations, campus-coalitions or colleges and universities can secure a $750 planning stipend to host events, combat substance misuse, and ensure a safer environment.
The Communities Talk initiative was formed to help increase public awareness around the prevention of underage drinking and has expanded to include prevention of misuse of substances. Communities Talk events are intended to center on the prevention of alcohol or other drug misuse, and while they can be hosted any time throughout the year, are often hosted during key observances such as Alcohol Awareness Month (April) or National Prevention Month (May).
SAMHSA has released an entire webpage with resources to help you plan your Communities Talk event, including a Quick Start Event Planning Guide to help community based organizations quickly and easily join other partners in preventing substance misuse.
Stipends are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply today to ensure that your Communities Talk event is considered for a $750 stipend.
