Congress Works on Continuing Resolution as End of Federal Fiscal Year Looms

House and Senate lawmakers are working to finalize negotiations on a continuing resolution (CR) this week, with the September 30 budget deadline quickly approaching. Discussions are focused on policy issues unrelated to budget and appropriations, including energy permitting reforms and additional aid to Ukraine. House and Senate leaders are expected to meet throughout the week to reach agreement and ultimately vote on the measure, which would extend government funding through December 16.
