Drug Abuse Warning Network Releases New List of Street-Names for Substances
The Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) has released a new brief, “Monitoring Drug Street Names Added to DAWN” from January 2023 – August 2024. The Network Watch Report identifies drug street names that have appeared in the DAWN database for the first time.
DAWN collects detailed information on drug names, street names, and combinations reported during an ED visit. This information is maintained in a comprehensive classification system for flexible detection and monitoring. Some of the new names identified for common street drugs identified in the database included:
- Cocaine: Snowflake
- Fentanyl: Freddy & Fetty
- Heroin: Fairy Dust
- Methamphetamine: Batu, Clear, Ice Cream, & Spackle
- Xylazine: Tranq
