HRSA Announces New Health Workforce Projections Data
The Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) has released the latest projections for the national supply, demand, and distribution of health care workers. Use the Workforce Projections Dashboard to explore supply and demand trends by occupation, state, year, and more.
According to the dashboard, projections between 2022-2037 for the Behavioral Health Workforce include a decrease of 36,020 (-28%) of total available professionals, while at the same time project an increase in demand for services by 59%, constituting a 45% network adequacy in the number of available professionals compared to the amount of need for behavioral health services.
To view the current behavioral health supply vs. demand projections, go to the Workforce Projections Dashboard and toggle to the Behavioral Health Category. You can also select various occupations from within the behavioral health workforce, such as Mental Health Counselors, Social Workers, or Psychologists – to view workforce projections among various provider types.
