OCDPB Proposed Winter 23/24 Rule Changes
The Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board (OCDPB) has released their proposed Winter 23/24 Rule Changes. A public hearing on this Rule package will be held at 9:30am on Friday, February 16th at the Riffe Building in Room 1960 (see hearing notice).
Interested parties should download and review the full list of proposed changes. The proposed Winter 23/24 Rule Changes total 70 pages in length – and as such, the below list is not exhaustive of all changes; however key highlights include:
- Changes to CDCA Education and Core Content Requirements
- Requires 1 hour of ethics.
- Allows 50% of college coursework to be used within five (5) years, as opposed to the previous two (2) years.
- Specifies no duplication of education courses between the CDCA-PRE and CDCA Renewable certification.
- Changes to Scope of Practice for CDCA, LCDC II, LCDC III, LICDC
- Adds family counseling within scope.
- Replaces treatment of conditions “as they relate to abuse of dependency on alcohol and other drugs” to “as they relate to behavioral health conditions related to SUD”.
- Updates to Code of Ethics for Chemical Dependency Counselors, Clinical Supervisors, and Prevention Professionals
- *NEW* Added new rule related to reciprocity with other state license-types, pursuant to new rules included in SB 131 and ORC 4796 and 4758.25.
