ODM Proposes New Structured Family Caregiving Rules
The Home and Community-Based Services Policy section at the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) has proposed a new rule for a service called “Structured Family Caregiving”. The new service will permit agency providers to employ a caregiver who resides with the individual to provide daily care and support to the individual based on the individual's daily care needs.
This new service will be offered to individuals at least 18 years of age who are enrolled on the MyCare Ohio, Ohio Home Care, and PASSPORT waiver programs.
The tentative effective date for this service is late summer of 2024. Initial comments for the proposed rule were due on May 14th, 2024. The Ohio Council will continue to monitor changes related to the proposed rules and will inform members accordingly.
