RecoveryOhio Annual Review
Corresponding with the state’s second annual Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, Governor DeWine released the 2021 Annual Review of the work that RecoveryOhio has done to improve prevention, treatment, and recovery support efforts that address the behavioral health crisis in Ohio. The RecoveryOhio initiative was launched in 2019 and is working on initiatives to advance the recommendations issued by the RecoveryOhio Advisory Council, which includes The Ohio Council. The recommendations outline areas of need related to stigma, parity, workforce development, prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery supports, and data and outcomes measurement. The 2021 Annual Review outlines accomplishments and top priorities for RecoveryOhio.
Additionally, as part of this year’s observance of Overdose Awareness Day, RecoveryOhio announced the creation of Naloxone.Ohio.gov, a new resource that provides Ohioans with a simplified process for obtaining free naloxone, a life-saving drug used to reverse an opioid overdose. The new website makes requesting naloxone as seamless as possible for all Ohioans, whether they are a first responder, community member, or distribution site, and enhances access to prevention and treatment information.
