SAMHSA Resources to Support Survivors of Domestic Violence
October marked Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence survivors are at higher risk for depression, anxiety, substance misuse, post-traumatic stress, and suicide attempts. The resources released by SAMHSA will help raise awareness about domestic violence and provide hope, support, and resources for survivors.
- SAMHSA webpage on gender-based violence prevention and support for survivors: SAMHSA released a new website, Gender-Based Violence and the Effects on Behavioral Health, to provide resources for survivors of domestic violence.
- The White House Gender Policy Council has released the first-ever National Plan to End Gender-Based Violence. The plan explores strategies for action to address sexual violence, intimate partner violence (AKA domestic violence), stalking and other forms of gender-based violence (GBV).
