U.S. Congress Adjourned for Summer Recess
Congress is adjourned for the August recess and will return the week of September 9. When Congress reconvenes in DC, the top priority will be appropriations; Congress must pass all 12 spending bills or a continuing resolution by September 30 to avoid a government shutdown.
Given the lack of progress on appropriations, it is widely expected that Congress will pass a continuing resolution to push the government funding deadline until after the November elections. Ohio Council staff encourages members to reach out to their respective U.S. Congressional representatives and senators – all have field offices located within their districts and throughout Ohio.
If you need assistance identifying or contacting your representative or senator, please feel free to reach out to Geoff Collver at [email protected].
